Using Silverlog

Silverlog provides photography reference tools and information. Use them at your own discretion.

Accuracy

We strive for accuracy but make no guarantees. Development times, reciprocity data, and other technical information are provided as reference. Always verify critical data against manufacturer sources. We are not liable for ruined film.

Intellectual property

Content on this site is © Silverlog unless otherwise noted. Sample images are credited to their photographers and used with permission.

You may link to any page. You may not scrape, republish, or redistribute our content without permission.

User submissions

If you submit sample images or other content, you grant us permission to display it on the site with credit. You retain ownership of your work.

Affiliate links

Silverlog does not use affiliate links. Links to shops and marketplaces are plain links with no tracking or commission, and nobody pays to be recommended.

The Silverlog apps: purchases

These terms cover what you buy in the Silverlog apps: Silverlog on iPhone and Android, and Silverlog for Mac (Windows later). The logbook on your phone is free in full, and so are the Mac's library and exports. Plans add more: Silverlog Pro (phone), Desktop (Mac and Windows) and Desktop + Pro. Sync comes with a Silverlog Pro, Desktop or Desktop + Pro plan. What each plan includes, and what it costs, is shown in the app before you buy.

Subscriptions and trials

You buy through the App Store or Google Play, or, for some Mac and Windows plans, through Paddle, which sells them for us. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and you manage and cancel them in the store you bought from (on the Silverlog Pro screen, Manage subscription opens it). A free trial turns into a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel before then. Deleting your Silverlog account doesn't cancel a subscription.

Buying from silverlog.app

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders on silverlog.app: it takes the payment, charges any VAT or sales tax, sends your receipt, and handles customer service questions about an order and refunds. Paddle's buyer terms also apply to those purchases.

Refunds

  • Bought from silverlog.app (through Paddle): you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of buying, for any reason, by replying to your Paddle receipt or at paddle.net. You can also email hello@silverlog.app and we will arrange it.
  • Bought in the App Store or Google Play: refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules. We can't issue them ourselves.
  • A refunded plan ends when the refund is made. A refunded Founder edition keeps its number on our records, and the seat isn't sold again.

Lifetime plans

  • A lifetime plan covers every feature in its plan and all future updates for as long as Silverlog is sold. There are no paid major upgrades.
  • It includes the plan's standard sync (20 GB of previews). It never includes Vault.
  • “Lifetime” means the life of the product. If Silverlog ever closes, everyone gets a full export of their data.
  • A lifetime purchase stays with your App Store, Google Play or Paddle account, even if you delete your Silverlog account, so it can always be restored.

Founder editions

The Founder editions are lifetime plans, numbered, and sold for a limited time: each is on sale for a short window after its app's launch, and closes at the end of that window or when its seats run out, whichever comes first, and never reopens. We will publish the window's opening and closing dates on this page before it opens. A Mac Founder gets Windows free when it ships. The lifetime terms above apply to them.

Silverlog Vault

Vault is a paid add-on for Silverlog for Mac: an off-site copy of your RAW, TIFF and DNG originals, kept untouched in cold storage in the UK and organised by roll.

  • It is a subscription of its own, and never part of a lifetime plan.
  • Getting files back is a restore job. Standard restores (within 48 hours) are free up to 1 TB a year, and charged at cost beyond that; priority restores (within 12 hours) are charged as the app shows when you ask for one. A full restore after a death is free.
  • Files you delete are kept for 180 days in Recently deleted.
  • If payments stop, uploads stop at once and you have 90 days to restore everything, with reminders at 30, 7 and 1 days; then the files are deleted.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
