Silverlog on your phone
Silverlog is a logbook for film: your cameras and lenses, the rolls in them, each frame you shoot, and the development and prints that follow. The logbook is free in full.
Log a roll
- Load a roll into a camera: choose the camera, the film and the number of frames.
- Open the roll and tap Log frame after each shot, then fill in what you want to remember: aperture, shutter speed, lens, notes.
- When the roll is shot, tap Finish roll. If you finish one by mistake, tap Undo straight away.
- Once it's out of the camera, log its development on the roll's page, and its prints after that.
In the darkroom
Turn on Settings › Darkroom › Red safelight to see everything in red only, so the screen doesn't fog paper or film.
Sync and your account
Sign in to keep your logbook in step on all your devices: Settings › Account and sync › Account. Sign in with Apple (iPhone), or with a six-digit code we email you. There's no password.
Sync comes with a Silverlog Pro, Desktop or Both plan. Your logbook stays on your phone either way, and nothing is lost without one. Once you're signed in with a plan, tap Turn on sync.
- A second phone: install Silverlog, choose I've used Silverlog before, then Sign in and sync.
- Signing out: you choose whether to keep a copy of the logbook on the phone or remove it. If changes haven't synced yet, the app says so first.
- Changes that couldn't sync are listed on the Sync screen, with their details. Copy them and email them to us, and we'll help put them back.
- Deleting your account: see Delete your Silverlog account.
Moving from Silverlog 1
Silverlog 2 is an update to the same app. The first time it opens, it offers to bring your Silverlog 1 logbook across. You can also do it later: on the welcome screen choose I've used Silverlog before, then pick Silverlog 1 on this phone, a Silverlog 1 backup file, or a Silverlog 1 cloud backup.
- Importing a logbook gives you Silverlog Pro on that phone for 90 days. The 90 days don't include sync: sync comes with a Silverlog Pro, Desktop or Both plan.
- Bought lifetime Pro in Silverlog 1? It carries over as lifetime Pro, sync included. Tap Restore purchases on the Silverlog Pro screen if it doesn't show.
- Your Silverlog 1 copy stays on the phone until you remove it, in Settings › Data.
Purchases
- Restore purchases on the Silverlog Pro screen brings back what you bought with this App Store or Google Play account.
- Subscriptions are the store's to manage and cancel: Manage subscription on the Silverlog Pro screen opens the store's page.
- What lifetime means, and the rest of the terms for purchases in the apps: terms for the apps.
Plan names
What each name means. The apps show each plan's price before you buy, and the terms for the apps say how buying works.
- Silverlog Pro
- The phone app's plan: sync, PDFs, costs and statistics, and the printing and meter extras. The logbook itself is free.
- Desktop
- The plan for Silverlog for Mac, and for Windows when it comes: Convert and Develop, with sync to the free phone app.
- Both
- Silverlog Pro and Desktop together, for less than buying the two apart.
- Founder
- A numbered lifetime edition of Pro, Desktop or Both, sold for a limited time and never again.
- Vault
- A paid add-on for the Mac: an off-site copy of your RAW, TIFF and DNG originals. It's never part of a lifetime plan.
- Archive
- Not a plan: it's where your finished rolls are kept, in the app.
Backups and your data
- Settings › Data › Backup saves your logbook to a file, or restores one. Backups to a file are free.
- Each roll can be shared as a CSV file, free, or as a PDF with Pro.
- Settings › Data › Clear all data deletes everything in Silverlog on that phone. It doesn't delete your account.

Something not right, or a question this page doesn't answer? In the app, choose Settings › About › Contact us: it starts an email with your version already in it. Or write to hello@silverlog.app, and say which phone or Mac you use and the version from Settings › About.
