Buying guide
The G2 (1996) improved on the G1's autofocus (it adds an active infrared component to the passive system), has a wider rangefinder base, and shoots up to 1/6000s in aperture priority and about 4 fps. Test AF accuracy with your intended lens and check the shutter at all speeds. Kyocera stopped Contax production in 2005, so budget for repair - specialists are few.
