The Trip 35 (1967-1984) is a fully automatic compact with a selenium cell around the lens, so it needs no batteries. Shutter is 1/40 or 1/200 chosen by the camera; a red flag blocks the shutter in low light. Test the selenium meter: in bright light the aperture blades should move when you press the shutter half-way. Check for lens fungus.
