The A-1 (1978) was the top of Canon's A-series, adding Canon's first fully automatic program AE to shutter-priority and aperture-priority AE. Check the viewfinder LED display carefully for missing segments. Listen for shutter squeal. Test all exposure modes. The A-1 is more capable than the AE-1 but has more electronics to go wrong.
