The AE-1 Program adds program AE to the original AE-1's shutter-priority AE (Canon lists shutter-priority, program, preset aperture-priority and Speedlite AE; there is no full-aperture aperture-priority mode). Same shutter squeal issue applies. Test all exposure modes. Check meter responsiveness. The Program mode makes it more beginner-friendly but slightly more complex. Often slightly pricier than the AE-1.
