The M4 (1967) replaced the M3 with much easier film loading (redesigned take-up spool and a rewind crank) and wide-angle bright lines. It was Leica's last camera produced largely by hand assembly. The M4-2 (1977, Canada) and M4-P (1980) followed; the M4-P added 28mm and 75mm frames. Test all functions.
