What went wrong?
My frames overlap
Frames run into each other or are double-exposed together.
Check this first
Is the spacing irregular across the roll, or are frames perfectly double-exposed?
Likely causes
- 1.
Film advance or frame-spacing fault
Common- How to tell
- Spacing varies through the roll and frames partly overlap.
- Fix
- The camera needs repair: the advance mechanism isn't moving the film a full frame.
- 2.
Multiple-exposure lever or rewind button engaged
Occasional- How to tell
- Pairs of frames are cleanly double-exposed on top of each other.
- Fix
- Check the multiple-exposure control and that the rewind release button pops back after rewinding.
- 3.
120 film wound to the wrong start mark
Occasional- How to tell
- Overlaps at the end of a 120 roll, or the wrong number of frames.
- Fix
- Align the start arrows exactly as the camera manual says.
Avoiding it next time
- Check the rewind knob turns as you advance.
